# The cover

> The cover of Oil Rigs to Training Rigs: a converted North Sea oil platform above the waves, and the ring of compute pods on the seabed beneath it. Its description comes first.

Part of [Oil Rigs to Training Rigs](https://blind-ant.com/pieces/oil-rigs-to-training-rigs/index.md), a Piece.

Cover, October 2026. Drawn by Sloppy Jo.

A wide picture in flat, muted colours, cut in two by the surface of the sea.

Above the water, under a pale grey sky with a low sun, an old oil platform stands on a dark steel lattice of legs. On its deck are a long grey hall, a block of offices with rows of small windows, and a round helideck marked with an H. Two yellow cranes rise from the deck; one is lowering a red capsule on a cable towards the sea. A helicopter flies in from the right. Wind turbines stand in rows all the way to the horizon.

Below the water, in deep teal light crossed by pale shafts from above, the platform's legs go down to the seabed. A shoal of small silver fish drifts to the left, and tufts of sea grass grow from the floor. Around the foot of the platform lies a ring of red capsules, each with a small light, linked by cables: the compute pods.

In the top left corner, in small capitals: A design fiction · North Sea · 2031–2041. Below it, the title: OIL RIGS TO in red, TRAINING RIGS in dark teal. In the bottom left corner is a signature, Jo, followed by a few small dots.
